God’s Living House

February 21, 2010

We’re doing a series at LifeKids at the moments called God’s Living House.  It’s loads of fun and so exciting to teach this stuff to our kids.  Here is what we’re teaching them…

  • God’s House used to be a building, but now it’s made up of people that love and follow Jesus.  That is why meeting together is so powerful and important.
  • God is always with us, even if we go to the moon He would be there, but when we meet together God is there with in a really special way.
  • God’s living House is a place where God meets with people
  • Being planted in God’s Living House means being dedicated to it, even when things get tough
  • God has given us gifts to use in His House
  • God’s Living House exists to show the rest of the world who God is and provide a way for them to meet Him.

We’ve done Meeting in God’s Living House, Praising in God’s Living House, Giving in God’s Living House, and next week is Serving in God’s Living House.  I could go on… I think this is the most excited I’ve ever been about a topic we’ve done at LifeKids.  LOVE it!

Slow Down

February 3, 2010

This one is for all you task orientated people out there… my philosophy on life seems to have been to do everything as fast as I can so that I can smell the roses at the other end.  Trouble is that even when I do occasionally get to the other end, I don’t actually really relax that well because I’ve been going a million miles an hour.

But this year God has shown me it’s not the only way, in fact it’s not the way he designed me to work at all. Ps Paul challenged us as staff meeting last week to not HURRY! That’s exactly where it’s at. This is what I’ve found… slowing down…

  • help me see things I otherwise missed
  • requires me to trust God that things would get done rather then striving in my own strength
  • is more Mary then Martha
  • gives more time to people
  • makes life so much more fun
  • draws me closer to my creator

There have been a few close calls of things that I’ve needed to get done, but God always comes through.  I’m learning to trust God and honor him with  my time.
